Levi's Story

I purchased Levi at the 2007 Appaloosa World Show in Fort Worth, Texas with the hopes of turning him into an all around show horse. With the help of Lonnie and Debbie Cruse, that dream is becoming a reality.

This year has been full of firsts for us. My first show with Levi was in May 2008. I had planned on showing him earlier in the year, but my job had other ideas and kept me out of the show pen until then. Levi was such a good boy at that first show. I qualified for the 2008 World show in both Showmanship and Western Pleasure our first time out.

I didn't show Levi again until the Appaloosa Celebration Show held at the Reichert Celebration in Tulsa, Oklahoma. This was the first time I had shown Levi in Hunter Under Saddle and we got qualified in the Non-Pro class! I let my nerves get the best of me in the Western Pleasure class and totally blew it. The last day of the show, Levi did a great job in Hunter In Hand and won the class and earned me a Reichert Jacket.

My trainer Lonnie Cruse showed Levi in Junior Trail for the first time at the last qualifying show in Fort Worth. Levi qualified for Junior Trail his first time showing in the class!

Our first World Show was the 2008 World. I went to the show expecting nothing. It was only our fifth show, and I knew the competition would be pretty tough. We came home with two top ten finishes. We placed eighth out of 37 in Non-Pro 35 and Over Hunter Under Saddle. I was thrilled just to make the cut to get into the finals. I didn't expect to make it into the ribbons. There were some nice horses in that class. One of the judges even placed us over the class winner in his line up! We also placed eighth out of 42 in the Non-Pro Hunter In Hand, Geldings. I was so proud of my boy!

Who knows what the future holds for us?
